Microsoft loves fags

Poniższy tekst jest treścią posta, który opublikowałem na pewnym blogu dotyczącym Microsoft. O dziwo zdarzyło się bowiem, że Microsoft posłuchał pewnej petycji ze środowisk gejowskich i nie wiedzieć skąd wywiązała się dyskusja na temat gejów, Biblii itp. itd. tak ostra, że nie mogłem się powstrzymać przed dorzuceniem czegoś od siebie.

As for homosexuality (and God) they are both a choice to some extent. And no, contrary to what John Smith says above ("Yes God exists, despite your rants and blatant ignorance, and if you chose to deny that fact") God is not a fact, but merely a concept/belief. Facts are supposed to be empirically provable.

According to some research about 40% of British (I don't remember the age of the participants, something like 20-29) believe that Sun revolves around the Earth but that is their belief (and they're wrong cause they didn't pay attention at school) and the fact is Earth revolves around the Sun.
And if we should go further into the matter we could argue about what truth is and whether Galileo/Copernicus where right or not, but it is not the point here.

The problem with homosexuals is that they are a minority and minorities, by definition, differ from the majority and are often rejected with the strength proportional to intolerance of the issue that divides the groups. And as opinions change the adversities may vary in time. Currently Christian religion (and religion is a concept we invented - it is a remarkable and glorious invention of the human kind) is currently receding and, according to statistics concerning Europe, will be soon undergoing a phase where the population of believers diminishes, while Islam is just going the opposite way. Apparently (again statistics) a particular population, with the progress of time and invention, has reduced need for religion as different means of providing oneself with peace of mind are discovered. It is probable (we will see in the next 50 years) that a population reaches a stage where concept of "god" is no longer a crucial object for maintaining social order - the paramount example is the UK.

And the texts in the Bible (the Old Testament) were compiled a few hundred years BCE and provide us with the view of how society worked in those times. The purpose of the texts was to provide uniformity and order for the Jews and it reflects the needs the contemporary people deemed necessary to achieve those goals.
Nowadays, when reading the Bible, we would better not forget about that part as well.

Apparently a few hundred years BCE the homosexuality was despised as it undermined the principles of the society which needed to grow in strength in the means of population. For the same reason onanism was banned (in Genesis). There are also other interesting passages we find: a brother should take a wife of his brother if the second died without having produced an offspring and the offspring would be treated as children to the one how died, although biologically it we would not be his child (a boy of course, because a daughter would be worthless from the point of view of that society). My favorite is the one demanding that the clothes would not be woven from two kinds of thread (Leviticus - 20% cotton, 80% wool anyone?) or the one forbidding breeding two different animals (like mules). As you might have not known the penalty for the clothes and breeding of mules is the same as for homosexuality - stoning to death. And no, I didn't make that up, I just read the book of Leviticus.

Today we do not kill people wearing T-shirts or breeders of mules or even homosexuals (at least not accept it  - any kind of murder is treated by us as a capital offense - some time ago killing a person of a different social status would bring a different penalty). Of course two kinds of thread and mules are obviously less problematic for social order than gays are, so today it is easier to wear the clothes one wants to wear and only bother it's all been made in China. However homosexuality remains a threat for the social order preferring male domination. The male accepting a passive stance, reserved for females, is observed as threat to social order and still persecuted.

As some preceding speakers observed, we don't have any empirical proof that it is natural to be only heterosexual but we believe that heterosexuality has been a dominant position in the society that wrote the Bible. And those are the facts.

And indeed, Mr. Warren, I would prefer if you could disable comments to a posts where useless posts (like mine) are posted off-topic. Also I would recommend that you banned the users who claim the other users are morons (that - contrary to homosexuality - is a reference to a state of mental incapacity), otherwise any discussion ends with no constructive outcome, although I personally believe that even when we talk about religion we can be constructive. (I don't remember any of the recent Popes saying "you moron" and they surely are against homosexuality to a great extent.)

And to not to be completely off-topic: I applaud to the decision which is the subject of your post. The concern of Microsoft for LGBTQ was always admirable. (And BTW I don't believe the corporations are only for making money - they have to abide to laws saying we work 8 hours a day and no more - unless we are in Bangladesh/China and have to work for 16 hours. And when they are interested in social issues it might prove beneficial for the society as well.)
